The most awarded airline in Africa, South African Airways (SAA) operates to 42 destinations worldwide. Domestically, SAA’s extensive schedule operates 660 weekly flights between Johannesburg – Cape Town, Durban, East London and Port Elizabeth; from its hub in Johannesburg, using a fleet of 54 aircrafts.

A strategic partnership between SAA and SA Airlink has allowed SA Express’ route network to benefit greatly from domestic and regional flights. This partnership has allowed SA Express to adapt flight schedules which include codeshare flights, and as a result, the airline carrier departs daily from Cape Town, Durban and Johannesburg. As for Airlink, although its hub is at Johannesburg’s O.R. Tambo Airport, it offers flights to smaller town in South Africa, convenient to the alliance with SAA and SA Express.

Code-sharing flights with its subsidiary Mango Airlines, between Lanseria – Cape Town and Durban have also been put in place. Other codeshare agreement partners include Air India, Air Mauritius, Air Seychelles, Cathay Pacific, Delta Air Lines, Emirates, Etihad Airways, JetBlue Airways, Malaysian Airlines and RwandAir. Both Mango Airlines and SAA hold the number one and number two spots respectively as South Africa’s most on-time airlines.

Domestic flights are available daily serving the five major cities in its local route including Cape Town, Durban, Johannesburg, Port Elizabeth, Bloemfontein, Kimberley and Richards’s Bay. For flights between Cape Town and Durban, SAA’s codeshare agreement with Mango Airlines comes into play, and passengers will fly on a Mango plane to their destination. They won’t forfeit any of the important benefits they received as a SAA passenger; all they need to do is hold on to their boarding pass and use it as a meal voucher, including fee snacks from Mango’s in-flight catering service. This also applies to flights between Lanseria and Cape Town.

South African Airways’ direct international destinations include Beiing, Frankfurt, Lagos, London, Munich, Nairobi, New York, Perth, Sau Paolo and Washington D.C.
